Review and Giveaway: Yoplait Kids

I’ve never been much of a dairy lover. I hate drinking milk, and am not always fond of cheese or yogurt. This may be explained by the fact that I also happen to be allergic to dairy products, as I found out a few years ago. Getting enough calcium in my diet has always been a struggle – and one that I’ve been determined not to pass on to my kids.
Thankfully, all three of my girls love dairy (and none are allergic, thank goodness!), and milk-based products are a staple in our household. When my oldest was a toddler, I tried giving her yogurt one day, just out of curiosity. She loved it, and still does – as do both of her sisters. We’ve had to limit them to one yogurt product a day each or we’d constantly be running out.
About a year ago, I took a good look through the yogurt display at our local grocery store to see if there were any options that were kid-friendly, other than the sugar-laden kind that my girls had been eating. That’s when I discovered Yoplait Kids.
What it is:
Yoplait Kids is the kid-friendly version of the well known Yoplait yogurt brand. They offer both spoonable and drinkable yogurts in easy to manage portions and containers – perfect for little hands. The yogurt is blended smoothly so there are no chunks to worry about as choking hazards, and the flavors are ones that kids tend to love, such as strawberry, banana and vanilla. Plus – the packaging includes such kid favorites as Dora, Diego, Blues Clues and The Backyardigans.
Yogurt is a healthy snack – and Yoplait Kids contains DHA (an omega-3 fatty acid that helps support healthy brain growth), the bone-building calcium that kids need, Vitamins A & D, live and active yogurt cultures to help digestion, and muscle-building protein. But even better – at least to me as a mom, is what it doesn’t contain. Yoplait Kids has 25% less sugar than the average of leading kids’ yogurts, and contains no artificial sweeteners or flavors.
We recently received an opportunity to try out a free pack of Yoplait Kids.
Here’s my our take on it:
My kids absolutely love yogurt – it’s a staple at our lunch or dinner table on just about a daily basis. And although they (and I) love the convenience of the Yoplait Go-GURT tubes, I have switched them almost entirely to the Yoplait Kids instead – because of the lower sugar intake, and the fact that they started asking for bowls to empty their tubes into so they could eat their yogurt with a spoon. It also doesn’t hurt to see Dora and Diego on the packages – my toddler is all about everything Dora nowadays, and if having Dora on the package will get her more excited about eating her yogurt, then I’m going to go with it. 
Some days they seem to prefer the drinkable containers – which are the perfect size for even my toddler to drink from easily without spilling, while on others they want to spoon their yogurt instead. I love that Yoplait Kids offers the variety – and hope that they’ll add a lower-sugar option to the Go-GURT tubes as well at some point.
The only complaint that I can think of has nothing to do with the product itself, but rather the packaging. With three yogurt-loving girls, we go through a 6-pack of Yoplait Kids in just a couple of days, even with limiting them to one serving a day each. Having it available in a larger package with more servings would definitely come in handy.
The bottom line:
Yoplait Kids yogurt is a healthy snack option for kids, from toddlers on upwards – offering more of the things that kids and parents want, and less of the sugar and artificial stuff that we don’t want.

Yoplait Kids is available in the yogurt aisle in most grocery stores, or wherever else yogurt is regularly sold. A 6-pack sells for around $2.69 here in the Midwest.

Honestly, my kids love ALL flavors of yogurt. I usually buy whatever is on sale, as long as it’s not the kind with that aspertame or whatever in it. Blech. My kids like the go-gurts too, but they’re messy! So we buy it in the cups or sometimes in the larger container and then we add in cereal – yum!

My son loves the triple cherry flavor from Yoplait Trix yogurt!
We love yogurt at our house too. They go through it like crazy! I’d like to try the drinkable yogurt to send in my daughter’s school lunch. I think she’d like strawberry or mixed berry.
My boys love the strawberry-vanilla Dora yogurt!
My two oldest love all of the Fizzix flavors. My son tells me they are bubbley in his mouth ( this is a good thing). As for my daughter,who is lactose intolerant, she loves to eat yogurt and I am happy she is getting calcium. The baby loves whatever big sister thinks is cool at the moment ( Fizzix). Good days when I can please them all with a simple tube of yogurt !
